What's the difference between percentage of and percent change?
X% of Y answers a portion question (e.g. 20% of 150). Percentage change answers how much a value grew or shrank between two points — they're different calculations entirely.
Why is a percentage decrease not the exact reverse of an increase?
Because percentages are relative to different base values — a 50% increase followed by a 50% decrease doesn't return you to the original number.
