Simplified estimate. Assumes retirement at 58, a combined employee+employer contribution of 24% of basic+DA going into EPF each month (in reality, 12% comes from the employee and only part of the employer's 12% goes to EPF — up to 3.67% typically, with the rest routed to the EPS pension scheme, subject to a wage ceiling) — verify the current EPF interest rate (declared annually by EPFO) before relying on this projection.

How this works

Simulated year by year: each year, monthly contributions (24% of that year's basic+DA) compound monthly at the EPF rate, and the basic salary grows by your assumed annual increment for the next year. This captures the compounding effect of both interest and rising contributions over a career, unlike a flat-contribution formula.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my real contribution split different?

By law, up to 8.33% of the employer's share (capped by a wage ceiling) goes to the Employee Pension Scheme (EPS), not EPF — this calculator simplifies by assuming the full 24% goes to EPF, which will overstate your actual EPF corpus somewhat.

Is EPF withdrawal taxable?

EPF withdrawals after 5 years of continuous service are generally tax-free; earlier withdrawals may attract tax and TDS under current rules.
