This is a simplified estimate, not a payslip. It assumes the new tax regime slabs and standard deduction as of FY 2024-25, a flat 12% employee PF contribution on basic pay (no wage ceiling applied), and a default ₹200/month professional tax — the actual professional tax amount and slab vary by state and is capped by law at ₹2,500/year in most states. It does not account for HRA, other allowances/exemptions, employer PF match, bonuses, or old-regime deductions (80C, etc.). Verify against your actual payslip or a tax professional — tax slabs and rules change and may not reflect the current year by the time you're reading this.

Assumptions used

New regime slabs (illustrative, FY 2024-25): 0–3L: 0% · 3–7L: 5% · 7–10L: 10% · 10–12L: 15% · 12–15L: 20% · above 15L: 30%, plus 4% health & education cess on the tax amount, a ₹75,000 standard deduction, and full rebate (zero tax) if taxable income after standard deduction is ₹7,00,000 or below.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't this match my actual payslip?

Real payslips include HRA, LTA, other allowances/exemptions, employer PF match, and possibly the old tax regime with 80C deductions — none of which this simplified estimate models.

Which tax regime does this use?

The new tax regime slabs, since that's the default regime as of recent years in India. If you've opted for the old regime, this estimate won't apply to you.
