Deductions (old regime only)

Simplified estimate, not a tax filing tool. Uses illustrative FY 2024-25 slabs and a standard deduction of ₹50,000 (old regime) / ₹75,000 (new regime), 4% health & education cess, and rebate u/s 87A. 80C, 80D, HRA, home loan interest and NPS 80CCD(1B) are capped at their statutory limits automatically. It does not model every possible deduction (e.g. 80G donations, 80E education loan interest) or surcharge for very high incomes. Verify with a tax professional or the official income tax portal — slabs and rules change and may not reflect the current year.

Frequently asked questions

Which regime should I choose?

Whichever gives you lower tax for your specific income and deductions — this calculator computes both so you can compare directly. Generally, the old regime wins if you have substantial 80C/HRA/home-loan deductions; the new regime wins if you don't.

Can I switch between regimes every year?

Salaried individuals can generally choose either regime each financial year; those with business income face more restrictions on switching back and forth. Check current rules for your situation.
