Uses the standard quarterly-compounding RD formula banks use as an approximation — your bank's exact maturity value may differ slightly by a few rupees due to rounding conventions.

How this works

M = R × [(1+i)n − 1] ÷ [1 − (1+i)−1/3], where R is the monthly deposit, i is the quarterly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 400), and n is the number of quarters. This is the standard formula used by most Indian bank RD calculators.

Frequently asked questions

Is RD interest taxable?

Yes, like FD interest, it's added to your taxable income and taxed at your slab rate — banks deduct TDS if it crosses the annual threshold.

What happens if I miss a monthly deposit?

Most banks charge a small penalty for missed installments, which isn't reflected in this calculator — it assumes every deposit is made on time.
